How to Format and Upload a CSV File

Uploading a properly formatted CSV file is the foundational step for many workflows in the Exchange. List uploads happen in the Manage Lists page in the V1 Customer App; once uploaded, your lists are available in Nexus and on your dashboards.

File Specifications

  • Format: The file must be a .csv file.
  • Columns: The file must contain exactly two columns, with the following headers in the first row: person_id, then state_code.
  • Person ID: This must be a standard identifier (e.g., VoterBase ID, DWID, VAN ID) matching the identifier your account is configured to use.
  • State Code: This must be the official two-letter USPS state code. Required even for single-state lists.

How to Upload

  1. Navigate to the Manage Lists page in the V1 Customer App.
  2. Click the “Upload a New List” button.
  3. Drag and drop your CSV file or select it from your computer.
  4. The system will preview your file. Confirm the columns are mapped correctly and click “Import.”
