Before any subscription or export goes live, the Summary & Confirm screen shows you what it will cost — and members who understand that screen build better queries and spend credits with more confidence. Hesitation at this screen is one of the most common reasons members under-use the Exchange, so it’s worth two minutes to understand exactly what you’re looking at.
The Delivery Information bar
At the top of the Summary & Confirm screen, three numbers describe the scale of your query:
- Credits — the estimated credit cost of the data matching your configuration.
- Unique IDs — the estimated number of distinct voters in your result.
- Records — the estimated number of rows. For Response and Contact History output, one voter can have many records (one per response or attempt), so Records will typically exceed Unique IDs.
Why they’re estimates
The screen labels these figures as estimates, and that’s deliberate. For one-time exports, the data is matched at the moment you run the query. For subscriptions, the estimate describes what matches today — but a subscription with No End Date will also deliver data that doesn’t exist yet, and no one can count the future. Treat the estimate as a meaningful sense of scale, not a quoted price.
If the estimate is higher than expected
Three levers, in order of impact:
- Start with a list. Selecting a list with Narrow my list scopes the entire query to the voters your program is actually focused on — usually the single biggest reduction, and the result is more directly usable data.
- Tighten your geography. A statewide query may return far more than a query scoped to your competitive districts.
- Check your date range. A start date going back several cycles returns more data than one at the start of the current cycle. Pull deep history deliberately, not by default.
Keeping track of your credits
Your credit balance is visible in the top right corner of the Nexus interface at all times. For a full log of your organization’s credit activity — what was spent, when, and on which pulls — see Transaction History in the V1 Customer App. For questions about your balance or credit allocation for your program, reach out to your DDx contact. For how credits are earned and valued, see “How does the credit system work?”
