Nexus Frequently Asked Questions

I filtered by candidate name and got far fewer results than expected. What happened?

You’re only seeing questions that expressly name that candidate. Remove the Candidate Name filter and leave it at All. A query with geography and office-level selections scope the query correctly, and will return the full range of relevant data, including the generic support scales and unnamed questions that make up the majority of Support ID records for any given race. See “Subscribing to Candidate Support Data” for the dual-configuration pattern that captures both.

Do I need to recreate my Search and Subscribe subscriptions?

Yes. All new Exchange data flows through Nexus. Your existing legacy subscriptions continue to give you access to historic data, but to receive new data you need to recreate them in Nexus — see “Recreating Your Existing Subscriptions in Nexus.” Your DDx contact can help you plan the migration and identify consolidation opportunities.

What’s the difference between a Subscription and a One-Time Export?

A Subscription delivers data continuously — new matching data is sent to your pipeline automatically as it enters the Exchange, including data that doesn’t exist yet. A One-Time Export is a snapshot of what matches at the moment you run it. Use Subscriptions for staying current through the cycle; use One-Time Exports for universe builds, point-in-time analysis, and any query needing AND, Exclude, Saturation, or Most Recent Response.

Can I use AND or Exclude in a Subscription?

No. AND, Exclude, Most Recent Response, and Saturation are only available on One-Time Exports. Subscriptions support OR logic only. If your query needs any of those, select One-Time Export in Step 2.

How do I use a list to make my data pulls more efficient?

Upload your list via Manage Lists (V1 Customer App), then select it at the top of the Set Scope screen and choose Narrow my list. The entire query is scoped to the people on your list — focused results, lower credit cost, more directly usable data. See “How to Use Lists in Nexus.

How do I know what something will cost before I activate?

The Delivery Information bar on the Summary & Confirm screen shows estimated Credits, Unique IDs, and Records before you commit, and your credit balance is always visible in the top right corner of Nexus. If the estimate is higher than expected, see “Understanding Your Credit Estimate” for the three levers that bring it down.

My data hasn’t arrived. What should I check?

Confirm on the Data Exports page that the subscription is active and not archived. If it’s new, confirm your pipeline is configured for the current egress format — contact support@demexchange.com for schema documentation. If everything looks right and data still hasn’t arrived, reach out to support@demexchange.com.

What happens if I archive a subscription?

Archiving stops future delivery but deletes nothing. Data already delivered stays in your pipeline, and the archived export’s full parameters remain viewable via View archived exports on the Data Exports page.
